*A note about Game Theory. The study of interactions between people is called Game Theory. One of the principal aims of Game Theory is to determine an optimum strategy for dealing with a given situation - this can involve a wide range of goals including increasing the frequency of purchase‚ incenting consumers to visit a channel partner‚ or getting consumers to watch a TV commercial and listen to the radio. Applied to marketing‚ Game Theory begins with specific business objectives‚ and then designs an interaction (i.e. the promotion) linking consumer motivations to the business objectives - using a process called Incentive Engineering.
